Definition:
An accrual-based accounting method for determining unit-based costs of delivering services by allocating the costs to budgetary resources; it measures the performance and costs related to a specific activity or function.
Liability with Fault
Definition:
A legal doctrine that holds that intellectual property right infringement is subjective; infringers must know or have reason to know that the conduct is infringing.
Designation
Definition:
An indication made by applicant, in the Request for an International Application filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, as to the Contracting States in which protection for an invention is desired.
Trademark
Definition:
A word, symbol, design, combination of numbers or letters, or other device which identifies and distinguishes products in the marketplace; icons, company names, brand names, and packaging can all have trademark protection.
